Brian & Godfrey with their sponsors at children’s welfare mission - Namugongo in 1998

OUR HISTORY

WE-FOR-HER Initiative Uganda, founded in 2018 by orphaned brothers Brian and Godfrey, alongside their childhood friend Robert as the Programs Director, embodies a heartfelt mission to uplift orphaned children, disadvantaged women, and young girls in rural marginalized communities across Uganda. Their journey began with a profound experience at Children’s Welfare Mission in Namugongo, where they were nurtured under the care of Cor and Grace Koelewijn, the national directors of KinderhulpAfrika. This pivotal experience deeply impacted Brian and Godfrey, shaping their commitment to giving back to those in need.

Following their education—Brian achieving a bachelor’s degree in Art and industrial design, and Godfrey completing a Diploma in Telecommunication Engineering, both with support from KinderhulpAfrika—they resolved to establish WE-FOR-HER Initiative Uganda. Starting with the purchase of two acres of land in Mukono District's Nama Sub-County, Kakoola Village, they set up their headquarters and laid the groundwork for their transformative initiatives.

WHO WE ARE.

WE-FOR-HER Initiative is a grassroots Nonprofit Organization started by a group of visionary self-driven young leaders with a great passion for transforming the lives of orphaned children, young girls and women in rural marginalized communities.

We are dedicated to providing comprehensive care and support for orphaned children in Uganda by ensuring that every child receives an opportunity for a brighter future by striving to create a nurturing and supportive environment where orphaned children can receive quality education, healthcare and other basic necessities to help them overcome adversity and thrive to reach their full potential despite their challenging circumstances.

"James 1:27 (Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world)."

We further commit our efforts to unleash the potential and influence the future of young girls and women by awakening their minds, building their competencies in all aspects of their personal and professional development, to create a network of extraordinary socially responsible individuals who are able to deal with the multifarious challenges that affect them.
